Employee Giving Program
FPL employees have a strong tradition and history of supporting United Way and other nonprofits in their community. Through the company's annual employee giving campaign, employees make pledges through payroll deductions and special event fundraising. In 2018, our company and our employees contributed more than $13.7 million to support wide-ranging initiatives and causes that contribute to the well-being of our communities.
Educational Matching Gifts
NextEra Energy provides a dollar-for-dollar match of employee gifts to eligible high schools, colleges and universities. Since 2003, the NextEra Energy Foundation has provided matches totaling $2.5 million.
Disaster Relief
In addition to sending 140 workers to Puerto Rico to restore power to areas impacted by Hurricane Maria, NextEra Energy donated nearly $2 million to those impacted by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Maria and Michael in 2017 and 2018. The Foundation is the company's charitable arm and focuses giving on STEM education, environment and quality of life.
